JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdrivers are essential for dealing with crosshead screws on a japanese bike, This is because the head is specially shaped not to 'cam out' when turning torque is applied. Phillips tipped screwdrivers can be used in JIS heads but there is a real risk that the head of the screw will distort due to the wrong shape tip and the bit will cam out, result, one mashed head and one screw still firmly fixed. JIS heads can be used safely on phillips screws, but not vice-versa I can vouch that there is a difference using JIS tips, these items are also coated with a non-slip coating. www.onlyqualitytools.com/catalog/Vessel/MEGADORA_Screwdrivers.htmlSee also the IMPACTA range which is a sort of impact driver, the head turns 12 degrees when you bash it with a mallet. very handy www.onlyqualitytools.com/catalog/Vessel/MEGADORA_IMPACTA_Screwdrivers.html#980_P2x100
This is an example of a screw buggered by pozidrive and phillips head screwdrivers this is why JIS screwdrivers are a 'must have', an undamaged screw head and a JIS screwdriver all are good quality, very reasonable, almost cheap price, made in japan and come with a manufacturers limited lifetime warranty
